So I really hope a custom designed manned turret doesn't become worthless. Having a human in the turret picking out what is a bigger treat to the ship will make a big difference in a big multiplayer battle where things could be total chaos. Just be shooting at what ever is closest. With all those guns focused onto one target you would kill it much quicker than a few automated turrets that could People put like 4,6,8,+ guns onto 1 turret. Also with some of the designs I have seen with the manned turrets. The small ship blocks are about 2 feet thick, why are they so weak? Having a layer of blocks around a manned turret should my it a lot tougher than the small automated turrets. See details about why I think they are OP here -> My thoughts on warheads and rockets But also I think the small ship blocks are a little too weak and it should take guns just a few more hits than it does now to break them. The rockets on the other hand are ridiculously OP, as I said in one of my other replies to a post. The large ship turrets don't seem like they would be all that well armored and could be easily shoot by fighters maybe taking out with only 6-10 bullets from a small ships guns. This way they could help defend against torpedoes loaded with warheads that enemies could send sailing though space at your ship. The automated turrets should be mainly used as a point defense system that shoots at any small fighters and other incoming objects that are not identified by an IFF system as a friendly targets. My thanks for the response, I think I shall go ahead and get the game then, though the process to make a rotating turret seems a tad on the convoluted side, the fact that it is at least possible is nice.I think because the game is called Space "Engineers" any well designed manned turret should be far better than any automated turret that anyone can just slap onto a ship. Placing a Bobby AI module on this part will even allow the turret to aim and fire on it's own. This part is the part which will have the weapons on it. Once you're satisfied with the design of the base of the turret, repeat the process for the next axis of rotation. Note: this part won't contain any weapons those come in the next part, so make sure to leave room for the actual weapon parts to move within the turret base. (you may have to switch to it after pressing the up arrow by pressing ctrl + left/right arrow if you have other things docked to the ship already.) Go to buildmode and build the base of the turret. Afterwards, leave build mode and press the up arrow on your keyboard, and it should switch you to control of the turret piece you just started. The direction that you use to orient it must be the same for every subsequent part of that turret. This next box is the core for the base of the turret, and will have an orientation arrow. It will bring up a selection box that you should place above the face of the Rail Turret Axis. build options by pressing ctrl and find the create docking option. The first step is to place a Rail Turret Axis where you want the turret to spin from. It can be a bit awkward to make turrets at first, but it gets easier with practice. In fact, I think I've seen one of those designs before, built in the game.
